Designing a nursery for my daughter felt extra special– as my first child, it was a deeply personal experience and the stakes felt a little higher. While designing spaces and homes for clients comes naturally to me, designing for myself and future child felt like a daunting task. I wanted her room to strike a delicate balance—something whimsical and childlike, yet refined enough to grow with her. Rather than leaning into traditional pastels, I wanted the space to feel layered and sophisticated from the start, grounded in a palette that felt both warm and enduring.
I began with varying shades of blush, rosewood, and cinnamon, weaving them together with soft neutrals and unexpected pops of green. The result is a palette that feels feminine without being overly girly—rich, grounded, and timeless.

The true starting point for the room was the wallpaper. I chose English Garden by Kelly Ventura for the crib wall, and it instantly set the tone for the entire space. Its painterly florals feel classic and feminine, yet organic and fresh, like stepping into a quiet garden just after sunrise. From there, every design decision became a response to that one beautiful moment.

To echo the softness of the wallpaper, I incorporated scalloped details throughout the room. Custom metal wall shelving for books features a scalloped edge, adding a subtle architectural rhythm, while the crib mirrors the motif with scallop detailing along its base. These repeated curves bring a sense of cohesion and charm without feeling overly thematic.

One of my favorite pieces in the nursery is an antique chest sourced from France by Foxhill Furnishings. I drove up to Dallas one weekend with my husband with the hopes that we would be bringing it home with us and as soon as I laid eyes on it, I knew it was the perfect piece for the nursery. Its intricate sticking profile on the drawers, elegant fluted legs, and timeworn brass knobs add depth and soul to the room—an heirloom-quality piece that grounds the space and introduces a sense of history. I love the contrast it creates against the softness of the nursery elements; it feels collected rather than styled.

To finish the room, I layered in touches of elegance and texture. A tassel-trimmed lamp from Arteriors adds a hint of glamour, while an upholstered ottoman with fringe along the base brings softness and movement. For quieter moments spent rocking, reading, or simply lingering, we chose an upholstered swivel, rocker chair from Gabby in a neutral woven fabric. A custom pillow with a tape trim from Travers was the perfect accent to the chair.

The end result is a nursery that feels serene, elevated, and deeply personal—a space designed not just for baby, but for a little girl who will grow, dream, and make memories within its walls. And I for one, can’t wait to witness and be a part of every moment of discovery, play, and laughter.
